Exporters Grants

Exporters are able to receive significant government assistance for research & development, marketing, promotion and other costs associated with exporting locally-made goods and products overseas.

Export Market Developments Grants (EMDG) are administered through Austrade and are designed to encourage Australian SMEs to develop export markets. Grants of up to $150,000 are available each year for a maximum of eight years in order to assist Australian companies in developing and promoting their products for export.

Eligible South Australian businesses can apply for an EMDG for a variety of purposes, including:




Exporter grants
  • engaging an overseas representative for your business
  • international marketing and promotion of your product
  • overseas travel related to the promotion and sale of your product (e.g.. attending trade fairs, seminars, etc.)
  • engaging marketing consultants
  • communication costs associated with the international export and marketing of your product
  • travel costs associated with bringing overseas buyers to Australia

The EMDG scheme is not limited to manufacturing or industry and other business sectors are also eligible, including:

  • Travel and tourism
  • Education
  • Fashion
